European eTwinning Day: celebrating collaboration and innovation in education

Every year, European eTwinning Day is an opportunity to celebrate the huge contribution, this has established  e Twinning as an invaluable tool that allows teachers, pupils and schools to collaborate across borders, exchange ideas and implement innovative educational projects.

eTwinning offers a wealth of benefits for kindergarten children, as it exposes them to an international and innovative learning environment. While they may not be able to take advantage of all the technical aspects of the platform, the benefits are age-appropriate and contribute significantly to their holistic development.

What kindergarten children gain from participating in eTwinning projects:

Developing social and intercultural skills

Communication and cooperation: children learn to cooperate with their peers from other countries, even if communication is mainly through pictures, videos, drawings and simple words (translated by teachers). This helps them to develop cooperation skills and to understand the concept of cooperation.

Getting to know other cultures: They come into contact with children from different countries, learning about their habits, games, songs and traditions. This fosters cultural awareness and acceptance of diversity from a very early age.

Empathy: Through interaction with children of other cultures, they develop empathy and understanding of the world around them.

Empathy and understanding of the world around them.

Digital literacy (at an early level): although toddlers, they become familiar with the use of digital tools (e.g. tablets, interactive whiteboards, simple applications) under the guidance of their teachers. They may be involved in creating digital books, collages or simple videos.

Creative Thinking and Innovation: eTwinning projects often include activities that encourage creativity, such as painting, making, singing, storytelling. Working with others to create a common product fosters ingenuity.

Problem solving: through fun activities (e.g. educational robotics with Bee-Bots), children learn to think logically and solve simple problems.

Pedagogical and Cognitive Benefits.

Increased interest in learning: Participating in international projects is exciting and differentiated from the daily classroom routine, which increases children's motivation and interest in learning.

Developing language skills (at an early level): even if they do not speak the foreign language, children are exposed to sounds, images and simple words in a foreign language, which can help to raise their awareness of languages.  Even if a language can be used to communicate in a language that has a certain amount of sounds and sounds that can help to make them more sensitive to sounds and sounds that can be used in the language: Participating in such a large and important project, and interacting with children from other countries, builds their confidence and self-esteem.

This helps to increase their confidence and self-confidence: Many kindergarten eTwinning projects use educational robots such as the Bee-Bot, which introduce children to the concept of programming in a fun and playful way.

Overall, e Twinning turns the kindergarten into a small "European window", allowing children to develop important skills and gain experiences that will be valuable for them in the future.

Collaborative Easter activities

Easter Wishes for the Forest: Our Special Easter Egg

Our school created a unique Easter Egg with a special message about the protection and beauty of forests.
We designed our egg to symbolize the vitality and importance of trees and nature — a colorful reminder to care for our planet and all its green treasures!

Collaborative Easter Game with Our Friends!

A wonderful collaboration with our friends from the 145th Kindergarten of Athens, the 7th Kindergarten of Thessaloniki, and the 11th Kindergarten of Kalamaria, as we all joined together to play The Children’s Easter Game!

Even though we didn’t win, we gained the joy and excitement of playing together, filling our hearts with beautiful memories and smiles!

Code Week 2025

Collaborative Robotics Activity with IC Di Nanni Grugliasco, Italy 🇮🇹

We proudly teamed up with our partners from IC Di Nanni Grugliasco and teacher Cameletti Susi for a creative robotics activity focused on sustainable tourism!

Our friends sent us their artwork, and we recorded an audio message to support their message. Then, we created a QR code to bring their image to life through sound!

A wonderful blend of art, technology, and environmental awareness!

Of course, we didn’t stop there!
We had so much fun exploring all the QR codes created by our project partners!

The children scanned each one with excitement and listened carefully to the recorded messages—discovering voices, languages, and ideas from all over Europe,
all united by one goal: to protect our forests through thoughtful and inspiring actions!

Tree from recyclable materials

For this activity, we created a tree using toilet paper and paper towel rolls. The children cut and assembled the rolls to form the trunk and leaves, then painted it with joy and care, bringing our recycled tree to life!

Our tree “came alive” and sent its own message of protection:

“Don’t litter, don’t break branches!
We water with love, and care properly!”

March - April: Acts to protect the forest

Our 5th letter has arrived! Ready for new missions as forest defenders!

Recycled paper letters

Protecting the Forest: Small Actions, Big Impact!
We talked about how important it is to protect the forest and thought of simple ways to help. One key action is using less paper.
So, we learned to recycle old paper and make our own recycled paper—giving materials a second life and saving trees!

With simple but meaningful actions, we all become forest defenders!

Next, we created the letter “N” using the recycled paper we made, then decorated it to join the collaborative poster promoting forest protection.

Collaborative Online Kahoot Game with Partner Schools!

Collaborative Kahoot Challenge: Forest Defenders Unite!

In this exciting activity, the following schools took part:
26th Kindergarten of Volos, 145th Kindergarten of Athens, Sc Inf San Michele Terni (Italy), 21st Kindergarten of Evosmos, 11th Kindergarten of Kalamaria & 6th Kindergarten of Aigaleo.

Our mission? To test our knowledge about forest protection and engage in a friendly quiz competition!

Our young learners raced to answer quickly and correctly, aiming for the podium in this fun and educational Kahoot game!

Breaking news “Forests Are Important!”

As part of our mission to protect the forest, our class focused on paper recycling.

We discovered that paper comes from trees, and by recycling, we help save those very trees and protect nature.

The children eagerly collected used paper, sorted it carefully, and placed it in the right recycling bins.

Through this simple act, they learned that every recycled sheet means one more tree standing tall in the forest!

Our digital poster shares our message: We love and protect the forest!

The Poetry Day

For World Poetry Day 2025, we teamed up with the 1st Kindergarten of Makrochori in a creative collaboration. We wrote a cheerful poem about protecting the forest, reminding everyone to keep it clean and bright, while our friends from Makrochori brought it to life with colorful illustrations.

A perfect blend of words and art celebrating the magic of trees, animals, and leaves—and inspiring everyone to care for our forests!

In the forest, small animals play,
they all shout out loud and say:
"Don't throw trash, keep it bright,
keep the forest clean and right!"

Collaborative Beebot Activity: "Dangers of the Forest"

Thank you to the students of ICS “Di Nanni” Grugliasco, Italy, and their teacher Fiorella Voglino for creatively highlighting the danger of garbage pollution in the forest!

We played with QR codes during our robotics activity using the BeeBot!

Through play, the children discovered how QR codes work by scanning them and learning through exploration.
At the same time, the activity encouraged them to think critically about the possible dangers forests face, such as pollution, deforestation, and wildfires.
